Once upon a Stone Age, a long long long loooooooooong time ago, back before phones and bicycles and automobiles and arithmetic, back when we used stones for tools and lived in caves and fire was a luxury, back at the dawn of humanity… that’s where our story begins. Once upon a Stone Age there was the sky, and the earth, and that big hot thing in the sky, and two good friends named Gork and Ogg, and… a time machine?
PRODUCTION HISTORY
Premiered in July 2024 by Upside Arts at New Hampshire Theatre Project in Portsmouth, NH. Directed by Joshua Goldberg, Max Cavanaugh and Lilly Whelan.
CHARACTERS
THE CAVEMEN
GORK – Ogg’s best friend, imagines a better way.
OGG – Gork’s best friend, content with the way things are.
MOOG – The cave leader; Gork’s disappointed parent.
GRONK – Athletic and proud.
GUB – Brutally sarcastic.
DERF – The class clown.
TOC – Uptight and anxious
NURP – Often left behind on account of being smaller than the others.
BLURG – Constantly talking.
FRUG – Ambitious in a bad way.
SNEEG – Lazy, takes advantage of everyone else’s hard work.
MOFF – A bit of a dreamer.
LUG – Been hit on the head one too many times.
JORT – Accident prone.
KRICK – The get-off-my-lawn type.
CHOW – Eaten during the opening number.
THE OTHERS
DR. ZEITVERSCHWENDER – The inventor of the Time Machine.
WINDSHIELD – Dr. Z’s assistant, an anthropomorphic balloon.
PROFESSOR WELLS – A historian specializing in the Stone Age.
VERBA – A bossy robot.
SYNCH – A laid-back robot.
WIXEL – A know-it-all robot.
ZEEP – A nervous robot.
KITTY – A sabertooth tiger.
FIDO – A T-Rex.
WOOLY MAMMOTH – Hunted by the cavemen, bull-like in temperment.
MONKEY – An angry monkey.
CHER – Cher.
